Gardian (“we”) is an AI gardening coach. This policy explains what personal data we process and your rights under the EU GDPR.
Data we collect
- Account: email and name, via our auth provider Clerk. You can sign in directly or via Google, which then shares your name, email and profile picture with us.
- Profile: gardening experience, garden size, time available, language, and the town/area you optionally provide.
- Your content: chats with the coach, photos you upload, diary notes you write, and the plans, to-dos and areas you create.
- Feedback you send us, and basic usage analytics.
- Garden map: if you use the garden map, we store the map coordinates you choose yourself (the view over your garden plus the borders and areas you draw). The aerial image is fetched from Mapbox each time the map is shown and is not stored by us. The address you search for is never stored.
- Notifications: if you turn on notifications in the app, we store an address for your phone (a push token from Apple or Google), your phone’s time zone and which notifications you chose. We delete the address when you turn notifications off, sign out on that phone, or erase your account.
How we use it
To provide and improve the service: generate and manage your gardening plans, personalise advice, and understand product usage in aggregate.
Processors we share with
We use these sub-processors, each under their own data protection terms: Clerk (authentication), Supabase (database & photo storage, hosted in the EU/Frankfurt), Anthropic (AI processing of your chats/photos), OpenAI (image generation — when you visualise an area, the photo you are visualising is sent there), PostHog (analytics, EU region), Mapbox (aerial imagery and address search for the garden map), Resend (feedback email), Apple and Google (deliver notifications to your phone if you turned them on: the notification’s text, such as the names of your tasks, passes through them) and Vercel (hosting). We do not sell your data.
Your rights
You can access, export, correct or erase your data. From Settings you can erase your account; to receive a copy of your data, email us at the address below and we will send it to you.
On erasurewe irreversibly anonymise your data: we delete your login, chat text, diary notes, photos, precise location and your phones’ notification addresses, and de-link the rest so it can no longer be traced to you. We may retain anonymised, non-identifying information. Backups are deleted on their normal rotation.
